On his way to the championship game, he defeated Kirtland Community College 3-2 and Lake Michigan College 3-0. He then comfortably handled SLCC to win NICC’s second Hearthstone National Championship in two years.
“We are happy to come away with two all-region selections after year one,” Coach Conner Klostermann said. “Receiving postseason awards is a reflection of some on-field success as a team."
“I couldn’t be more proud of our team for their effort this season,” Coach Nick Weinmeister said. “These three were consistently impacting games for us this season, and for a first-year program to get recognition like this is a true testament to how well our team performed this season."
NICC swept the doubleheader last week at Marshalltown, but a slow start in the final series resulted in a split on the day.

"People have brought up wrestling in multiple conversations since our announcement of expanding athletics back in 2024," Athletic Director Nick Weinmeister said, "Decisions are calculated for what is in the best interest of the College, athletics and our students.
